The Challenge
A managed care organization that provides access to healthcare for a multitude of employers needed to meet the requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) within a tight implementation timeframe. This organization needed to develop and implement policies and procedures to meet the HIPAA Privacy and Security regulations, which came into effect beginning in April, 2003.
Third Day’s Solution
Third Day Solutions (TDS) provided expertise in the HIPAA Privacy Rule and the resources necessary to quickly develop, implement, and train staff in the policies and procedures necessary to achieve compliance with this regulation. With TDS’s assistance, these policies and procedures were tailored to the organization’s culture and business practices, while meeting all requirements of the HIPAA Privacy Rule and were implemented prior to the effective date of the regulation. In addition, TDS provided security policies and procedures to assist them in meeting the requirements of the HIPAA Security Rule, which became effective in April, 2004. This regulation and corresponding policies and procedures addressed the security requirements for electronically stored patient information.
